Top tips for getting Primary School ready
Getting kids Back to School ready can be stressful, so we've put together some tips we learned along the way with some of our top product picks!
First up in our 2021 Back to School series, here are our top tips for getting Primary School aged kids ready for school.
PACK FOR GROWING APPETITES
As your kids start to settle into school and their appetites grow, it’s a good idea to look for lunchboxes with more capacity and the ability to pack bigger foods. We love the b.box range or the Go Green Medium size, for packing larger lunches.
Be sure to check out which lunch boxes fit in our lunch bags in our handy Lunch Bag Size Guide
TIP: Children often sit on the grass or on benches and balance their food on their knees which can be a tricky skill to master! Try practicing this at home before school starts.
CREATE GOOD HABITS
It's a good idea to make a plan with your child for their backpack. Work out which pockets and compartments work best for what items - decide where things like homework will go once it's finished, or where to keep parent notes from their teacher.
This will help them to pack their own backpack independently - which can be done the night before. You could also double check pockets each day for things they've missed - like uneaten snacks or soggy bits of paper.
CHANGE IT UP
Are your kids bored of sandwiches? We’ve all been there! Our Insulated Food Jars are a great way to pack more variety and get out of a sandwich rut. They fit easily inside our lunch bags with a smaller lunchbox, like a Yumbox, if you need to keep everything together.
TIP: Pack hearty soup and mac and cheese in winter, and overnight oats and crisp salads in summer!
STAY HYDRATED
If you’ve ever had a drink bottle leak through a backpack, or fall apart within a week, you’ll know that not all drink bottles are created equal.
All of our drink bottles are leak proof when closed and our Original Drink Bottles are the perfect size for Primary School. Add an interchangeable sipper lid for kids that prefer to sip or a free pour lid for maximum water flow. Our lids now come in a variety of colours to inject some personal style into each bottle! Throw in a couple of ice cubes in the morning and water stays chilled all day!
TIP: Much like kids themselves, drink bottles are bound to have a few falls and knocks in the playground. Add one of our coloured bumpers to help protect their bottle and add a splash of colour!
We'd love to hear your top tips for getting your kids Primary School ready!
